Combo Magazine, Paris
COMBO is an annual art publication from Paris, founded by Louise Follain as an archive of collective dreams, uniting visual art, photography and poetry. I am its regular essayist.
For Issue IV, Voices of the Rising Dawn (June 2026), I wrote The Phenomenology of Inner Space: a ten-page handwritten essay on imagination, aphantasia and the radically different inner worlds people live with.
For the third issue, Maps to the Next World (2024), I wrote and lettered A Guide to Lucid Dreaming entirely by hand: an introduction to dream recall, the science of lucid dreaming and the techniques for learning it, set as a calligraphic page-scape.
For the opening of Combo’s group exhibition at OFR Gallery in Paris (18 May 2024) I gave Tarot & the Surreal, a spoken-word lecture-performance on surrealism, the tarot, symbolism, archetypes and visual culture.
